From Chapter 3 The Opiator

There is no such thing as a casino tender, a person who says, "That's it; you've lost too much; you're out of here, and I don't want to see your face again!"

Chapter 5 Viva Las Laboratory

Eventually, under normal circumstances playing perfectly, you are not going to be a multi millionaire. You are going to lose everything.

Chapter 6 Reconnaissance / tapping into cycles

With my method you don't get to give up playing brilliantly, but you are more properly rewarded for it.

Chapter 11 Me, myself, and I; how we learned to lose less

The best way not to lose is to accept losing. Ohmmmmmmmmmmm, I just heard the sound of the universe go off in the background.

Chapter 10 Hey, coach, are we winning yet?

Life can mimic drugs. In a casino one can witness how much of an unbridled child, who has no idea of what it's like to be harnessed to anxiety, has weathered the years of indoctrination, and still rumbles inside of us.

From Chapter 13 Holding on to What You've Got or, The Grass is always greener if you don't kill it

Can you imagine someone who spent $2000 and all spring working on his lawn to make it as thick, weed less, and beautiful as possible, sitting on his front porch, looking out over this carpet, and smiling with pride as he says, "This is just gorgeous. I think I'm going to go into the garage, get my rototiller and see how fast I can grind it all up."
That $2,000 plot of grass is the money you won tonight. And now, your mission, if you can handle the temptation, is to hold onto it. Most gamblers, myself included, will run to the garage to get the rototiller at the first hint of buried treasure.

From Chapter 14 Sessions

The urgent need for instant gratification is greatly inflamed by our whole society sponsoring the promise that you can have anything you want (with notable exceptions, such as health care), and, if you can't afford the real one, you can have a cheaper one that looks just like the real one. If you can't afford either, you can ingest some chemical that will make you not care.

Chapter 15 In the groove

The pot of gold (four of a kind, royal flush) can't be seen from any angle, nor does it ever actually exist somewhere out there for you to find. When you draw near to where it might become, there is evidence of its arrival. Everything then becomes interesting to you and some things downright exciting.

Chapter 16 Block party

In the maze of video poker machines in any casino larger than your local minimart, you have to find the block of machines humming along towards your success. Unfortunately they don't make any noise.
